Unless there is a large amount of rain in the next few days, about half-a-million people in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro will not have easy access to water as taps are running dry.

This will see about half of Gqeberha having to go to other parts of the City to get water or rely on water tankers.

Already, a key dam has started to on

ly release mud and the authorities are moving a barge around to try to find the last pockets of water. A sustainability engineer at Nelson Mandela University, Dr Andre Hefer, explains.
